Probably one of our favorite fashion & beauty archetypes is "effortless chic." The woman who is classic yet timely, so confident in her style and herself that she quickly crafts her look and then is out the door. Marissa Webb's Spring 2014 is a lovely riff on this theme, teasing the current punk and rocker trends. Featuring a hint of recklessness paired with a slightly undone beauty look. Ms. Webb tells hey, hey! gorgeous. that the mood of her collection is "soft rock n' roll." She adds: "I don't want the look to be intimidating. I want the woman who sees this look to feel she can do it herself." This vision was captured exceptionally well by makeup artist Cassandra Garcia of Bobbi Brown and hair designer Linh Nguyen from Cutler Salon for Redken. Ms Garcia's work featured a natural, flawless skin and a soft pink blush on the cheek, using Bobbi Brown's Pink Retouching Powder, a loose blush, that according to Garcia, "gives just a tint, it doesn't give that too much of a blush look." The brows were muted, using Bobbi's Blonde Brow Gel to give a soft highlight on the brow and the eyes were subtle, with a bit of definition created by a tight line on the inner lash line and mascara. "The focus really is on the lip," said Garcia, "The lip color we are doing is a blazing red. Marissa wanted to complement the reds she has in the show so we have a variation of the reds, some are more pronounced and some are muted." Warm glowing face with a blazing red lip? Definitely an effortlessly chic look we can easily create at home. Hair design captured the epitome of the slightly undone rocker look. There were basically two styles: one up, one down "with inspiration stemming from today's trendy half shaved head and, what I imagined, a modern day Amy Winehouse should look like," Nguyen tells hey, hey! gorgeous. The look was incredibly trend forward but would be fun to play with on a wide range of women as it avoids the harsh lines and extended commitment that shaving requires. To play with Mr. Nguyen's styles yourself, here is the step by step for his loose, hair down look: Spray dry hair with Redken Hot Sets 22 Thermal Setting Mist and Nature Rescue's Radiant Sea Spray. Using 1 ¼ -- 1 ½ inch curling iron, create ringlets throughout the entire head by curling 2 inch sections. Reapply Redken Nature's Rescue's Radiant Sea Spray. Use fingers to twist the hair and simultaneously blow dry, in order to create dimension and texture. Loosen up curls with your hands to create a messier look. Part the hair into an extreme side part. Along the parted side, slick back hair pinning at the back with a bobby pin (hidden under the teased hair). Add Redken Hardwear 16 Super Strong Gel along the temples to create a slick look. To create volume on top of the head, section off the hair on the top of the head. Using a teasing comb working from the back of the head to the front. Taking the heavy sided part sweep hair across forehead and lock into the place with three bobby pins at the corner of the forehead. Tousle hair throughout to create additional texture and finish off with Redken Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray to keep the style in place. The greatest strength of Ms. Webb's showing was its ability to easily transcend the runway and walk directly into the modern woman's every day life.
