I picked up a 2016 Mustang GT with the manual about eight months ago and I absolutely love the car when I'm cruising down the corniche or opening it up on the E611 but this third gear grind has been getting progressively worse to the point where I'm basically double clutching like I'm driving a tractor just to avoid that horrible crunching sound and my passengers keep giving me side eye like I don't know how to shift properly. The local garage near my place in Al Taawun did a fluid change with some generic stuff and it helped for about a week before the grind came back even angrier than before and the guy just shrugged and said these Getrag boxes are weak and I should probably look for a used transmission from a wrecked car which sounds like a terrible lottery to play. I've been reading through some Mustang forums and it seems like the issue is usually the synchros or the shift fork pads wearing out and there's a place that advertises Mustang Gearbox Repair Sharjah over in Industrial Area 2 that actually opens these MT82s up and replaces the worn components with upgraded parts instead of just telling you to find a new box. I'm really hoping someone on here has actually taken their S550 to a gearbox specialist in Sharjah and can tell me if the rebuild actually fixed the grind permanently or if I should just learn to live with skipping third gear entirely and going straight to fourth like I've been doing for the past month because this is my daily and I can't afford to have it sitting in a shop for weeks waiting for parts from the States that never show up.
