Season 14 PTR has that weird test-server smell again: broken stuff, wild numbers, and everyone pretending they knew Rogue would still be cracked. The new Mythic Unique setup changes how people value Diablo 4 Items, because even a dusty Unique in your stash can suddenly become the centre of a real build.
Rogue is still the class people argue about first. Penetrating Shot feels clean, fast, and nasty when the gear clicks. Death Trap is the louder problem, though. Some of its damage looks suspicious, and yeah, a few testers are already calling it bugged. Even if Blizzard trims that down, Poison Pen Shot still clears like a build made by someone who hates waiting.
Barbarian didn't fall off the cliff people expected. Whirlwind is still doing Whirlwind things: spinning, deleting packs, and making half the screen unreadable. Druid is the fun surprise. Shred and Tornado Wolf have real bite now, while Landslide is getting attention because reworked Uniques finally give it better legs. Necro remains steady, especially for minion fans, and Spiritborn still has that "why am I moving this fast?" energy.
1. Rogue has the highest scary ceiling right now.
2. Barbarian is safer than the patch notes suggested.
3. Druid finally looks like a real top-table pick.
Reality check: Half these rankings could move if Blizzard fixes one ugly damage interaction overnight.
The rough class spread is pretty clear if you watch Pit pushes, tower clears, and boring-but-useful farming runs instead of one cherry-picked clip.
| Class | PTR Standing | Best Known Strength |
|---|---|---|
| Rogue | S Tier | Burst damage and mobility |
| Barbarian | S Tier | Stable clears and Whirlwind speed |
| Druid | S Tier contender | Shred Tornado and Landslide scaling |
| Warlock | A Tier | Sustained damage and smooth rotations |
Someone in my group asked if Warlock is actually bad now, or just less flashy than Rogue and Druid.
Nah, it's not bad. Apocalypse and Dread Claws still work. They just don't look as silly on leaderboards right now.
If the season went live in this exact state, I'd expect Rogue to flood the top boards first, then Barbarian, Spiritborn, Druid, and Necro close behind. Warlock players shouldn't panic, but they may need cleaner gearing and better play to match the wildest clears. The real winner is build variety, honestly. Mythic Uniques 3.0 makes farming feel less narrow, and stocking up on buy d4 gear will matter more if people keep swapping setups every few days before the meta settles.
