However, mana as a resource for builds has been significantly nerfed, with passive tree and item mana rolls receiving reductions, and the Archmage skill suffering severe downgrades.

Enemy Armor and Elemental Ailments

Enemies now have 30% less armor, benefiting physical builds by making it easier to pierce defenses. Furthermore, fully armor-broken enemies take an additional 20% increased physical damage, making armor-breaking mechanics even more valuable.

On the flip side, elemental ailments such as freeze, ignite, shock, and chill now apply to players twice as often, making resistance stacking and mitigation more crucial than ever. In contrast, light stuns—caused by minor enemy hits—occur less frequently, while heavy stuns (from major blows) last three times longer. This change could introduce a new risk factor for players caught off-guard by powerful attacks.

Build-Specific Changes

Warrior Leveling and Stun Mechanics

Warrior builds have seen adjustments that will impact leveling efficiency. The stun threshold on enemies has been lowered by a flat 10%, making heavy stun-based builds more viable. The Impact Shockwave support gem has also received a minor nerf to AoE but now scales with area modifiers, making it a mixed bag for melee players.

Additionally, Rolling Slam’s attack speed has been buffed significantly, reducing its fixed attack time from 1.5 seconds to 1 second. This change enhances its usability for mobility-focused warriors.

Armor Break Warbringer: A Major Buff

If you’re running an Armor Break Warbringer build, rejoice! The armor-breaking mechanic now provides an inherent 20% more physical damage when fully applied, making physical single-target DPS skyrocket. Furthermore, the Armor Break skill itself now breaks 20% less armor, but since enemy armor has been globally reduced by 30%, this is a net buff.

To top it off, the Turtle Charm ascendancy node now grants an extra 15% block chance, further improving survivability for tanky warriors.

Crossbows: The New Meta?

Crossbow builds have received a massive overhaul and buffs across the board. Their base damage, added elemental/physical damage rolls, and reload speeds have all seen significant improvements. Additionally, crossbows now benefit from two-handed weapon damage modifiers instead of weaker one-handed values, making them a viable (and possibly dominant) ranged option.

The Witch Hunter’s Sorcery Ward node has also been buffed, now providing 30% more armor and evasion while improving its recharge speed by 20%. While Scattershot support gem received a slight nerf (approximately 19% less damage), the overall buffs to crossbows far outweigh this minor drawback.

Major Nerfs and Adjustments

The Death of Herald Chaining

Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder can no longer trigger off each other, effectively killing the popular Herald Chaining mechanic. However, individual herald skills have received some buffs, so if you weren’t reliant on chain interactions, you may still find them useful.

Flameblast: A Giga-Nerf

Flameblast users will be shocked by this one—the skill now has a 15-second cooldown (previously none) and has seen its per-stage damage multiplier reduced from 200% to 75%. This drastic change cripples self-cast Flameblast builds, potentially rendering them unviable in most situations.

Archmage and Ghost Wreath: R.I.P.

Mana builds took a devastating hit with this patch. Archmage, once a staple of mana-based builds, has been gutted—its extra lightning damage has been slashed from 8% to 3%. Meanwhile, Ghost Wreath, previously a powerful way to convert life into Energy Shield, no longer works post-Chaos Inoculation conversion and has been halved in effectiveness.

Temporal Relics and Mor Invictus

Temporal Relics’ cooldown reduction has been nerfed by 50%, reducing its effectiveness in rapid-casting strategies. On the other hand, Mor Invictus has undergone a rework—it now rolls three random modifiers instead of two, but powerful mods like max life, max mana, and attributes have been removed. While this change is uncertain in its impact, it could open up new defensive possibilities.

The Future of Path of Exile 2’s Meta
