How to Get More Divine Orbs in POE2 — U4GM’s Expedition Farming Tips

Expedition is one of the most rewarding endgame activities in Path of Exile 2, offering valuable currency, rare items, powerful character upgrades, and challenging boss encounters. Whether you are a beginner entering the endgame or an experienced player farming high-tier maps, understanding its mechanics can significantly improve your results. With the right strategy, POE2 Currency farming becomes more efficient, especially when you learn how to manage rune modifiers, select the best Atlas passives, and prioritize Grand Expeditions.

How to Unlock and Start Expedition

To begin your Expedition journey, visit Danig at the ruins of King's March, southeast of the Ziggurat Refuge. Speaking with him provides your first Logbook, which allows you to explore ocean regions through the boat icons on your Atlas. Standard ocean maps contain Expedition encounters at Calguran dig sites, where you place explosives to uncover Runic Monsters, Verisium Remnants, and buried treasure.

Grand Expeditions, recognizable by their special flame icon, offer a much larger challenge. These encounters feature continuous chains of remnants, additional explosive charges, and significantly more opportunities for valuable rewards. However, their monsters are also considerably stronger, so your build must be prepared before attempting heavily modified encounters.

The Expedition questline introduces four major bosses: Medved, Vorana, Utrid, and Olroth. Completing the questline eventually leads to the pinnacle boss, the Aberration, at the meteor crater. Defeating this final enemy completes the progression and unlocks Expedition Atlas passive points.

Understanding Verisium Remnants and Rune Modifiers

Verisium Remnants are the foundation of Expedition farming. Each remnant displays several rune slots, which determine the number of waves of empowered monsters that appear when explosives uncover it. A remnant with six slots, for example, produces six waves of enemies.

Higher-slot combinations can offer significantly better rewards, including Divine Orbs, permanent character bonuses such as additional Spirit or passive points, and exceptionally rare items. However, every rune also represents a monster modifier, and all monsters spawned from the remnant inherit the corresponding modifiers.

There are two main rune categories. Standard runes are blue, while Power Runes are purple or gold. Power Runes upgrade other modifiers into stronger versions, increasing both encounter difficulty and potential rewards.

Another essential mechanic is modifier transfer. A gold outline indicates that a rune's modifier will carry over to subsequent remnants. These transferred modifiers accumulate, making later encounters much more dangerous. Since Grand Expeditions can contain numerous remnants, enemies near the end can become extremely powerful. Some modifiers can transfer multiple effects, although the same modifier cannot be transferred twice.

You can also exchange regular Verisium for Liquid Verisium at the appropriate hideout NPC and use it to reroll a remnant's reward. Because the new reward becomes fixed after rerolling, evaluate the available options before committing your resources.

Best Expedition Atlas Passives

Several Atlas passives directly affect Expedition efficiency.

• Steady Development: Choose an additional remnant or explosive. An extra remnant is a strong option because it creates another opportunity for loot.

• Strategic Advantage: Delays the next explosive until 50% of the monsters have been defeated, helping encounters progress faster.

• Expanding Territory: Use the increased chance of finding Expedition encounters when revealing Logbooks. When running Grand Expeditions, switch to the option that provides a chance to discover an additional Verisium Remnant.

• Double or Nothing: This is one of the most important choices because it controls modifier transfers and encounter difficulty. The maximum-reward option can add extra transferred modifiers, but it is dangerous for weaker builds. Removing transfers is the safest choice for beginners, while the standard option provides a balance between difficulty and rewards.

• Calculated Investment: Select the option that best matches your goal, whether that is gaining experience, maximizing loot, or maintaining a manageable difficulty level.

• Cultivate the Sea: Adjust the biome bonuses according to your farming target. Desert can improve monster effectiveness, Forest can support rare-monster or lineage-gem farming, and Mountain can provide more tablets.

During early progression, disabling modifier transfers is a sensible way to learn the mechanics without making encounters unnecessarily difficult. As your character becomes stronger, experiment with more challenging settings to increase your potential rewards.

Choosing Logbooks, Bosses, and Tablets

When revealing ocean regions, prioritize Grand Expeditions because they generally offer the best loot potential. Island rumors can identify specific unique maps or Grand Expeditions, so using a community rumor reference can help you choose worthwhile destinations. Some rumors may initially be hidden, making it useful to inspect the displayed information carefully.

You can also target particular Expedition bosses by keeping the corresponding Saga active in your inventory. These bosses may drop valuable lineage gems and unique items. Olroth can provide Shattered Triskellions for additional pinnacle-boss encounters, while Utrid is associated with the valuable unique wand Rune Seeker's Call.

For Grand Expeditions, Radiated Tablets are the key investment described in this farming strategy. Prioritize useful modifiers such as rare monsters and increased monster effectiveness. Item rarity can be an alternative when you want a less demanding encounter. Use Desert for stronger monsters and potential rewards, or Mountain when additional tablets are more useful to your farming setup.

For ordinary travel maps, focus on speed. Clear the monsters along your route and move toward the next destination rather than spending excessive time completing every corner. If you are specifically farming tablets, however, clearing more of the map can make sense. Delirium tablets are another option, but their difficulty and the need to switch tablets may make them less convenient for beginners.

Rune Priorities and Explosive Placement

Inside Grand Expeditions, prioritize transferring the most valuable modifiers. Opulent, the gold rune, is especially important because it increases monster rarity and can substantially improve rewards. Purple Power Runes are also valuable, particularly those that strengthen other modifiers. Death and Bond are useful options, while Rebirth is the main blue rune worth watching because it revives monsters.

Time and Oath can also provide benefits, but Oath may be particularly difficult because it requires killing the minions of rare monsters. If your build struggles with these encounters, avoid adding unnecessary complications.

When placing explosives, try to make the final explosive target the largest available rune combination, such as a six-slot or nine-slot remnant. This can help concentrate accumulated modifiers on a high-value encounter. Rerolling smaller remnants with three or four slots is often worthwhile when they lack useful transferable modifiers. Avoid spending too much time trying to perfect every placement, since efficient farming ultimately depends on completing more rewarding encounters.

Final Thoughts

Expedition rewards players who balance difficulty, preparation, and efficiency. Start with safer Atlas settings, learn which runes and modifiers your build can handle, and gradually increase the challenge as your character improves. Prioritize Grand Expeditions, target valuable bosses when possible, and focus on Opulent transfers without wasting excessive time on perfect explosive placement. With consistent practice and a flexible strategy, you can improve your endgame farming results and make every expedition more productive.
