Getting into the air early can completely change a Story Mode run. Traffic becomes less of a problem, distant missions take less time, and the hills around San Andreas are much easier to explore. You do not need a rare vehicle or a special trick, either. Several helipads are open to anyone who knows where to look. If you are starting a new save or comparing options through GTA 5 Accounts, it helps to learn how the aircraft system behaves before you spend half an hour waiting on an empty roof.
Start With the Davis Rooftops
Davis is a practical first stop because two useful locations sit almost opposite each other. The South Los Santos Medical Center has a roof helipad, while the Davis Sheriff Station has another nearby. Walk up to the medical centre rather than arriving in a car. If nothing is there, cross the road and head for the sheriff station roof. Then return to the first roof. This short loop gives the area time to reload, and a helicopter may appear after a few passes. The usual choices are a civilian Buzzard, a Police Maverick, or the red Air Ambulance. On newer console and PC editions, walking matters more than many players expect. Driving straight onto the pad often leaves it empty.
Other Police and Medical Pads
The same aircraft group can turn up at several city stations. Each site has its own access route, so it is worth knowing the layout before you arrive. The quickest checks are these.
Vespucci Police Station: use the outside ladders to reach the roof.
Mission Row Police Station: go through the building and follow the internal stairs upward.
Vinewood Police Station: climb the exterior route towards the rooftop pad.
Paleto Bay Sheriff Office: check the ground-level pad beside the parking area.
Commercial Helicopters Around Los Santos
For a calmer flight, visit Los Santos International Airport. The Buckingham Swift often appears there, sometimes wearing the bright green and red Flying Bravo paint scheme. The Frogger is another handy choice. It handles well, moves quickly, and can be found at more than one location: Vespucci Tours near the beach, the Los Santos Naval Port on Elysian Island, Sandy Shores Runway, and the roof of the tallest building in Pillbox Hill. These spots are useful when you want a helicopter without dealing with a military response.
When You Need More Power
The National Office of Security Enforcement headquarters in the Palomino Highlands is a good place to look for a Buzzard Attack Chopper. Enter through the parking area and use the ladder on the main building. Fort Zancudo offers even heavier options, including another Buzzard Attack Chopper and a Cargobob. The catch is immediate military attention and a four-star wanted level. Plan your exit before landing, keep a fast vehicle nearby, and do not linger on the runway. Once you have a reliable aircraft route, spare cash for supplies through buy GTA V Money can make longer flying sessions easier.
