Which supermarket is actually worth the drive, where to get decent food after 11pm, whether the petrol station nearby is always as backed up as it looks, all of that stuff takes months to piece together. I've been here about eight months now and last week added another thing to the list when my car battery died in the basement and I had absolutely no idea who to call. I don't have a regular mechanic here yet, back in Sharjah I had a guy I'd used for years but starting that from scratch in a new area feels like effort I haven't gotten around to.
