Twister Huntress makes a strong 0.5 league starter because it gets going early, doesn't need fancy gear, and still has room to scale. It works on Spirit Walker, Amazon, or Ritualist, though Spirit Walker feels especially smooth if you want steady elemental ground and companion value. You'll still want to be smart with your PoE 2 Currency, because most of your power during the campaign comes from replacing weapons at the right time, not from polishing every random rare you pick up.
When checking vendors, use a search string like "ty o|mov|spear|ge to a" to catch useful lines fast. You're mainly hunting flat added attack damage, movement speed, item rarity, and spear bases. Rarity is better than many players think while levelling. Don't drop damage for it, sure, but on armour pieces it often pays you back with more rares and more crafting options.
Boots are simple: get movement speed. A bad pair with movement speed usually feels better than a "nice" pair without it.
| Slot / Focus | Priority Stat | Why It Matters | When to Upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapons (Spears) | Flat added damage | Core DPS scaling for both skills | Every few levels |
| Boots | Movement speed | Clear speed + survivability | Early and often |
| Gloves / Rings | Flat attack damage | Boosts Twister + Barrage | Act 1–3 |
| Armour | Life + resistances | Keeps campaign stable | Act 2 onward |
| Jewellery | Attributes / utility | Fixes stat requirements | As needed |
Your spear matters more than almost anything else. Look for flat added damage, increased physical damage, attack speed, and levels to projectile skills. Lightning damage is also great, even from a rune, because shock adds a clean damage boost.
Keep your fastest spear aside for Whirling Slash later, while your hardest-hitting spear becomes the Twister weapon.
In act 1, armour bases can carry your defences. From act 2 onward, start leaning into evasion. Life, resistances, and attributes are all useful, but don't trap yourself by relying on one piece for all your Strength or Intelligence.
At level 36, add Combat Frenzy once you have the spirit for it. Frenzy charges feed Barrage, and Barrage gives Twister more repeats, which is where the build starts feeling nasty.
When you can fit a companion, tame one from the act 3 Infested Barrens or the Kahari Crossing in the second interlude. Resetting at checkpoints can help you find rare beasts nearby. Elemental ground modifiers, such as lightning trail effects, are the prize.
Herald of Ice is nicer for clearing packs, while War Banner gives better single-target if you don't mind pressing another button.
Use weapon set passives once the build has enough tools to justify it. Early on, a Talisman with wolf form is handy for the movement speed trick: attack or roll-cancel, then run faster through empty space. Later, after Thunderous Leap shows up, drop that setup.
Put Whirling Slash and Thunderous Leap on your fast spear in weapon set 1, then place Twister, Ice-Tipped Arrows, and Barrage on your damage spear in weapon set 2.
It sounds fiddly at first, but you'll feel the difference after a few bosses.
Be stingy where it counts. Transmutes and Augmentations should fix clear problems, not decorate gear you'll replace in ten minutes. If you've got a decent weapon but no movement speed boots, then yes, try to craft boots. If your spear is weak, stop messing with gloves and fix the spear.
Don't Exalt non-weapon gear unless you're already sitting on a healthy stash; saving for the next spear upgrade is usually stronger. Some players also use cheap poe 2 currency to smooth out unlucky stretches, but the same rule applies: spend on damage first, movement second, and comfort after that.
